Preventive healthcare must include routine dental examinations. During an exam, dentist will check teeth, jaw, gums, oral mucosa, tongue for any abnormalities, oral- cancer screening and evaluate overall oral health.
Dental X-rays and other diagnostic tests may also be part of a dental examination.. X- ray are used to diagnose problems that are not as quickly noticed. Problems are easier to handle when discovered early.
Generally, for people with healthy mouth, dentist recommend to visit every six months. For patient with high risk factors, dentist will often recommend more frequent visits to address these specific issues. However, many people don’t understand the benefits of routine oral exams or feels anxious because they don’t know what to expect during a typical dental check up.
