Sealants are the thin film coating placed into the deep pits and grooves on the chewing surface of teeth as a preventive treatment where cavities are most likely to occur. Brushing and flossing thoroughly can help remove plaque and food particles from the teeth’s smooth surfaces, but they may not always reach all the crevices and nooks in the back teeth. Sealants protect these vulnerable areas from tooth decay by “sealing out” or by forming a protective shield over the tooth. Sealants needs to be checked for chipping or wearing at regular dental check-ups.
Sealant is a very simple, quick and painless procedure in which the tooth is thoroughly cleaned & dried and then thin film sealant coating placed into the deep pits and grooves and harden the sealant with curing light
